In 2023 he was presented with the Key to the City and received the "L. B. Brown Champion Award" From the Neighborhood Improvement Corporation of Bartow, Florida, Inc. "For outstanding contribution to the preservation of the legacy of Lawrence B. Brown by spending several years conducting research and writing the book From Slavery to Community Builder: The Story of Lawrence B. Brown."
